This Ultra-Cheap f/0.95 Lens Is a Surprise Dream

Wide-aperture 50mm lenses are some of the most popular out there, with their versatility making them at home in a huge range of genres and applications. For APS-C shooters, the Brightin Star 35mm f/0.95 offers that classic combination at an extremely affordable price, and it surprises with some impressive results. This great video review takes a look at the sort of performance and image quality you can expect from it in practice.

Coming to you from Wes Perry, this excellent video review takes a look at the Brightin Star 35mm f/0.95 lens. At just $200, this lens is remarkably affordable, particularly considering the results you get from it. Despite that aggressive pricing it still offers solid all-metal construction and smooth operation, but what really impresses is its dreamy image quality wide open that becomes sharp and contrast as you stop down. Of course, the one major drawback is the lack of autofocus, but the manual focusing aids of modern mirrorless cameras are quite robust, and it is much easier to work with such a lens than it used to be, so as long as you are not photographing fast action, you should be fine. Check out the video above for Perry’s full thoughts on the lens.
