As part of the school uniform, I grew up wearing preppy clothes and I have to admit I’ve always wanted to rebel against them a bit. The polo t-shirts felt too monotonous, and the khakis didn’t fit my fashion ideas at the time. The dresses seemed too long, and I always thought they could use a sewing machine handy.
With all of that said, I tried to say goodbye to preppy fashion after leaving high school but realized it was ingrained in my style DNA somewhere. Long, oversized button-down shirts, second leather knit polos, and comfortable khaki pants are some of my wardrobe staples to this day, but I’m in control now a bit more about fit and style, they feel a bit more I.
I think my fondness for modern preppy fashion trends is what excites me see trends making key statements on runways S/S 22. This time around, however, designers are embracing rule-breakers who dare to break the mold and wear their skirts shorter than the dress code — and I’m here for it. that.
