These are the most fuel-efficient cars, trucks and SUVs according to consumer reports


When you shopping for a new carPrice and practicality are important, but So is fuel economy. The Environmental Protection Agency provides fuel economy ratings for almost every vehicle currently on sale, but how does that apply in practice? Our friends at Consumer Reports independently tests new cars to see how fuel efficient they really are in the real world, and recently published a guide to the cars that performed best in that particular test.

It’s broken down by category and the top cars are rated based on the category they’re in, so 25 mpg would be considered impressive for a truck but not for a mid-sized car. We also only included the top five finishers for each segment even as Consumer Reports added more items to its list. Now, let’s take a look at what makes this list.
