Before becoming an editor, I took on a number of fashion-related jobs while studying in NYC. The editorial intern at Who What Wear is one of them, but the shoemaking associate at Nordstrom is another that requires more time. I spent the day checking new shipments, helping customers, and of course – reviewing sales prices myself. While my sales days may be over, I still use what I learned from that job in my current role. I think about specific shoe styles suitable for different occasions, notice what trends are trending this season, and take a closer look at the products to see what’s really worth the spend. (I’m on commission, so the last thing I want is to give back.) And as an editor, the last thing I want is readers who aren’t happy with their purchase.
While I wish I could sit virtually with each reader and act as a partner, I did the next best thing. I’ve spent hours sifting through hundreds of pages on Nordstrom’s website to find the best shoes to shop for spring.
