BEIJING – No bodies or survivors have been found since China Eastern Airlines crash on Tuesday morning, Chinese state media said.

Domestic flights on a Boeing 737-800, carrying 132 people, happened on Monday afternoon in the southern region of Guangxi, Chinese aviation authorities confirmed.

The cause of the crash is still unknown and no deaths have been confirmed.

President of China Xi Jinping Sent an investigation and rescue team to the plane crash site in rural and mountainous areas.

Those missing on the plane have yet to be found at the crash site, state media said on Tuesday, noting that only plane debris has been found so far. The crash initially sparked a fire on the mountain, which was later extinguished, reports said.

Because the plane was a US-made plane, the US National Transportation Safety Board said it had appointed an investigator into the crash. It is not clear whether the investigation includes travel to China.

In a statement, Chicago-based Boeing said it is in contact with the US transportation safety department and its technical team is “ready to assist with the investigation led by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.” .”

The US Federal Aviation Administration said it was aware of the crash and would assist with the investigation “if requested.”

China Eastern Airlines said it is sending workers to the crash site and has opened a hotline for family members. The company’s Hong Kong-traded shares fell more than 7% on Tuesday morning.

Shares of Boeing fell nearly 7% in US trading overnight.
