A young man came across a shivering dog with an injured leg, abandoned in the cold rain. The sight was heartbreaking. The poor animal had been left in a cardboard box on the side of the road. When it noticed people approaching, it limped towards them, desperate for help. No one stopped to help until the man and his friend did. Despite the pain and fear, the dog seemed to understand that these strangers were good people. It must have been heartless of its previous owner to leave it in such a vulnerable state, especially since it was severely disabled.
The dog was shaking, not just from the cold, but from fear and discomfort. Without hesitation, he was taken to the vet for a thorough examination. X-rays confirmed the worst: the dog had been born with a congenital defect that had caused him to lose bone in one of his legs. In addition, he had a bone marrow problem in his hind legs.
To make matters worse, the vet revealed that the dog had tested positive for the coronavirus. Despite all of these challenges, the dog remained calm and cooperative, as if resigned to its fate. But the rescuers weren’t ready to give up on it just yet.
He was named Bear, symbolizing the strength and resilience they hoped he would find in his new life. After a visit to the vet, Bear was brought home, where he received the care and attention he so desperately needed.
By day 10, Bear was starting to show signs of recovery. His playful nature was coming out, especially when interacting with his new friend. It was heartwarming to see him enjoying life despite everything he had been through. Bear’s energy and spirit were returning, and he seemed to be embracing his new circumstances with enthusiasm.
Now, Bear is thriving, surrounded by love and devotion, and has formed a strong bond with his new dad. Although he will limp for the rest of his life, that doesn’t stop him from walking—or even running—with joy. The pain and suffering caused by his previous owner now seem like a distant memory. Bear has shown remarkable resilience, greeting each day with a wagging tail and a playful spirit.

Authorities have charged a New Jersey man with multiple counts of animal cruelty after discovering several dogs in his care were living in dangerous and violent conditions. Under current law, there is nothing to prevent the man from owning, possessing, or caring for other animals in the future.
Bear has truly found the happy life he deserves, and we couldn’t be happier to have rescued this little guy! Thank you to his new dad for giving Bear such a wonderful new life.
