UPS driver delivers family of their missing dog

A UPS driver in Tennessee has sent a family the best Christmas present ever: their missing dog.

Based on WRCB Chattanooga, Darrell Slack is delivering packages for the Christmas after Black Friday.

He says it’s the busiest time of year for deliveries, but when Paula Odom stops him to talk, he happily slows down to listen to what she has to say.

Odom of Turtletown, Tn, has lost a Jack Russell Terrier named Pete. Pete was the light of her world, and she was heartbroken not knowing where he was or if she would ever see him again.

Desperate, she asked Slack if he would keep an eye on deliveries. Slack didn’t hesitate to help and told Odom, “We’ll find him.” And that’s exactly what he did!

As the paper reported, while driving in a remote area within its delivery range, Slack spotted a Jack Russell Terrier roaming around. He thought it must be Pete so he stopped to lure the dog in.

Using the dog food he kept in his truck, Slack patiently earned the dog’s trust and was able to pick up the dog and confirm it was indeed the missing Pete!

Slack didn’t have time to go straight home to Odom with Pete, so the dog went with him for the rest of the delivery. At the end of the day, he turns his truck around and gives Odom the best Christmas surprise – her missing dog.

Speaking to WRCB Chattanooga, Odom said, “I was completely in tears and just thought I’d never see him again.” She said when she saw Pete in Slack’s arms, she was “about to fall” and “overjoyed.”
