The US-built Mercedes EQE SUV has been teased with interior photos, scheduled to launch in October

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the interior of the EQE SUV, the next model to its electric EQ line, ahead of its scheduled launch on October 16.

Expected to be made in the USA, the 5-seater EQE SUV will follow the 7-seater EQS SUV is set to debut later this year as a 2023 model. As the name suggests, this will also be an SUV version of the Tesla Model S midsize sedan, which is expected to arrive in the US later this year.

US versions of the EQE SUV will feature a standard 12.8-inch vertical touchscreen display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, with the Hyperscreen extending from the EQE sedan and other models. EQS samples may be available as an option.

Mercedes doesn’t reveal any specs, but we can infer from the EQE sedan. In the US, that model will be offered with a 288-hp single-motor powertrain in base form, and topped off with a 677-hp dual-motor AMG performance. The EQS and EQE SUV models will be built in Alabama, with locally sourced batteries. Vehicles will be assembled at the Tuscaloosa plant, which currently produces Mercedes petrol SUVs, with batteries supplied by a new facility located nearby.

With the EQE sedan expected to start at around $70,000, the EQE SUV could start at just under $80,000, so with US assembly it could receive a federal EV tax credit under the regulations. The revised rule places an $80,000 price cap on SUVs.

Before EQE SUV arrives, Mercedes will bring Smaller EQB to the United States — with the first deliveries likely later this month.
