The Tyler Tribe to Turf in Keeneland Breeze


The Invincibles Tyler tribe his first spin around Keeneland the field on the morning of October 15 to prepare for the start of the Breeders Cup ‘November 4 (G1T) Junior Sprint at Lexington racetrack.

Owned in partnership with Tom Lepic and trainer Tim Martin, the high-speed Iowa crossbreed, accompanied by regular pilot Kylee Jordan, tri-coated at: 39 4/5.

Unaccustomed to the cones, or “dogs” erected around the lawn, Tyler’s Tribe managed to jump the cones into his work before starting his stride in the lane.

“We don’t have cones in Iowa,” Martin joked after the breeze. “I think (he’s) fine. As long as he’s not flustered out there and messing with it, that’s not him. Time is not my concern.

“He always works (three feathers) at :38 or :39. If he goes with another horse, he will work a bullet. But otherwise he is not a working horse. fast and I don’t care about being really fast anyway there’s wind with him. I know he’s fast and I know he can run.”

<p>With a 5 to 5 record, Martin said that while gelling was initially being considered for the FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Juvenile 1 1/16 mile (G1), the $1 million Turf Sprint would be the target. his final goal.  .  The race is contested over 5 1/2 distances, a distance that Tyler’s Tribe has won twice in his career.</p>
<p>“(Kylee) said he galloped really well after practice,” Martin said.  “She feels comfortable with him out there (on the pitch).”</p>
<p>The Turf Sprint will be the first match of the Breeders’ Cup for Jordan, Lepic and Martin.</p>
<p>“I have complete confidence in Tim and Kylee,” Lepic said.  “This is my first time owning a workhorse, so I don’t know much about it. I’ll do what (Tim and Kylee) said and I’m just excited to be here.”</p>
<p>Tyler’s Tribe, picked by Lepic and Martin for $34,000 at the Iowa Breeders and Owners Association 2021, Son of <span class=Sharp Azteca quickly turned around with dominating performance after dominating performance at Prairie grasslands– most recently a 6 1/2 race in the Iowa Cradle Stakes on October 2. Lead gelling has been in the lead at all times in all of his starters.

Martin has reported that Tyler’s Tribe will appear on the main track Keeneland next weekend before returning to the field for three more drills on Saturday before the Turf Sprint.
