The stunning BMW Concept Skytop finally brings home the bracelet

For many years BMW has been using it Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este ARRIVE reveals his latest fantasy design concept, and this year is no different as BMW has just revealed the Concept Skytop, a two-seat touring car that seems perfectly suited for driving around Lake Como. While there’s a lot to like about Skytop, as someone who’s always been obsessed with it Chris bracelet and my time at BMW, I was most excited about Skytop bringing back Bangle Butt.

Now, the butt isn’t quite the same as when Bangle actually directed the BMW design, but you can’t tell me that the Skytop doesn’t give you the whole E63 series 6 Sangha piano. I’m actually a big fan of the lot Current designs of BMW – as you can tell given my love for the Bangle era, my favorite BMWs are the most exotic ones – but the Skytop is undeniably beautiful and a huge improvement over the coupes current major of the company. Skytop is based on current M8 contestand it’s not hard to imagine that it previews what the next-gen 8 Series will look like.

Current design director Adrian van Hooydonk (who actually created the E63 6er based on Bangle’s earlier Z9 concept) says the Skytop is meant to evoke the 503 of the 1950s, one of BMW’s coolest cars, as well as the classic Z8 roadster since 1998. The Skytop is one of BMW’s most modern versions of the shark-nose front end, with angular kidneys that almost meet where the front end converges and super-slim LED headlights. The front bumper has large air intakes but is painted the same body color and is simpler BMW M cars today. The rear of the car is similarly neat with prominent round exhaust pipes and Z8-like taillights.

The hips have a gorgeous finish, and aside from the plunging side skirt, the clean lines aren’t disturbed much. The Skytop has sharp flying pillars connected by a leather-wrapped roll bar that forms the B-pillar and is reminiscent of the hood design of the E63 cabrio, while the rear deck has a subtle spear running down, continuing the spear on the hood. I also really love the wheels, which BMW describes as having gill-like features and the “silver with chrome gloss” paint job that looks a beautiful yellow.

The interior isn’t as exciting, being essentially identical to the 8 Series in terms of overall design. Everything is finished in terracotta-colored leather with brogue-colored accents that look lovely, and there are additional crystal elements like the spokes on the steering wheel. The Skytop’s two leather-covered roof panels can be removed and stored in the trunk, and the rear window can also be retracted.

BMW didn’t say anything about whether a car like the Skytop will be produced or whether it will in fact preview the next-generation 8 Series, but at least it’s proof to all of you that BMW can still design beautiful cars and proof that to me, BMW can still design strange and interesting cars.
