The official price of the BMW XM 2023 in Malaysia – from RM 1.3 million; PHEV SUV with 653 PS, 800 Nm; 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds


After starting Pre-orders for the BMW XM last October, BMW Malaysia has now revealed the official selling price for the high-performance SUV. The XM, also known internally as G09will make its global debut in September 2022 and is the first standalone model from the M division since the M1 and also the first M model with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The asking price for the XM is RM1,316,450 for uninsured road travel and this applies to the two available variants, the Shadow Line and the Night Gold Line. It should be noted that this includes the standard two-year warranty, which goes up to RM1,398,800 if you add the service pack and the 5-year extended warranty. This price is still lower, although it’s just the estimated RM1.4 million we were told at the start of the reservation.

For your money, you’re getting a lot of power, with the PHEV powertrain delivering a total system output of 653 PS (644 hp or 480 kW) and 800 Nm of torque. All those growls are enough for the large SUV (more than 5 meters long and 2.5 tons heavier) from rest to 100 km / h in just 4.3 seconds. To put it bluntly, it will hit a top speed of 270 km/h, which is achievable thanks to the standard M Driver Package.

The heart of the M Hybrid system is a 4.4-liter S68 twin-turbo V8 that delivers 489 PS (483 hp or 360 kW) from 5,400 to 7,200 rpm and 650 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 5,000 rpm. The petrol engine is mated to an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission with Drivelogic as well as an M xDrive all-wheel drive system for direct drive to the wheels. The powertrain also includes an M Sport differential on the rear axle linked to the car’s DSC (Dynamic Stability Control).

Joining the internal combustion engine is an electric motor integrated into the gearbox that produces 197 PS (194 hp or 145 kW) and 280 Nm of torque. This is powered by a floor-mounted lithium-ion battery with an energy capacity of 25.7 kWh (29.5 kWh total).

Fully charged, you can go about 82-88 km according to WLTP standards and a maximum speed of 140 km / h when running on all electricity. For the ownership aspect, the car can use a maximum AC input (Type 2 connection) of 7.4 kW, with a full charge (0-100% charge state) requiring 4.25 hours. .

Referring to BMW Malaysia’s spec sheet, the Shadow Line and Night Gold Line variants of the XM are almost identical. Both have adaptive LED headlights, extended exterior mirror package, BMW Individual Merino leather seats, M leather steering wheel, M carbon fiber interior trim elements, M seat belts, M front seats and the BMW Individual dashboard is wrapped in leather.

Moving on, the SUV comes standard with the adaptive M suspension Professional, which includes electronically controlled dampers, active roll stabilization and Integrated Active Steering (rear-wheel steering). There’s also M Sport brakes with gloss black painted brake calipers, Professional Driving Assist (AEB, lane change assist, ACC with stop and go, etc.) Park Assist Plus, Mode 2 (three-pin plug) and Mode 3 (Type 2) charging cable as well as BMW IconicSounds Electric.

As for the interior, the XM gets four-zone climate control, ambient lighting, soft-close doors, front-row massage and ventilation functions, and a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system. Diamond, smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), ConnectedDrive services, and BMW Curved Display (12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.9-inch central touchscreen) with System operating BMW 8.

The difference between the two available variants is mainly found on the exterior, with the Shadow Line featuring Night Gold accents on the two-tone 923 M star-spoke 23-inch light-alloy wheels. Shadow Line has a similar wheel design, but its set has Black accents instead. For the curious, the tires measure 275/35 at the front and 315/30 at the rear.

Other shared features are the M Aerodynamics package, the Iconic Glow kidney-shaped grille, and the high-gloss Shadowline M exterior trim package, although the last entry comes with expanded content on the variant. Shadow Line. The Night Gold Line, true to its name, features gold accents on the areas around the windows and rear apron to complement the color of the wheels.
