The Mandalorian Season 3 Trailer: No Helmet, Mandalorian No More

The teaser trailer for Mandalorian season 3 is here. At Disney’s D23 Expo 2022, Lucasfilm announced the first trailer from the upcoming third season of the Star Wars series led by Pedro Pascal. Pascal was on stage at D23 alongside actors Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon), Emily Swallow (The Armorer), Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan Kryze) and Amy Sedaris (Peli Motto), and The Mandalorian creators Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni. The first trailer for The Mandalorian season 3 is full of action and teasing about Mando’s continuing adventures with Grogu/Baby Yoda, after they reunite in The Book of Boba Fett. Also, The Mandalorian season 3 seems to have been delayed.

“This is your save?” Armorer (Swallow) voiceover at the beginning of the first season The Mandalorian season 3 trailer, as we get to see footage from season 2 before moving on to present day. “You’re like its father. A clan… consisting of two people.” As the Mandalorian embarks on new adventures, The Armorer’s voiceover continues: “But you took off your helmet. Then you’re no longer a Mandalorian.” In another glimpse of an action scene, we see the new Mandalorian starship – created in The Book of Boba Fett – being chased by a swarm.

Elsewhere in the first trailer for The Mandalorian season 3, Bo-Katan has some choice words for Mandalorian after he goes to see her: “Your cult has broken our people. Where were you then?” When a group of Mandalorians affiliated with Bo-Katan set off on a mission – the footage of them falling off the spaceship is amusing – one of them asked Grogu: “Do you think your father is the only Mandalorian are not?” I guess Baby Yoda is confused by the way people around him wear helmets?

The final 30 seconds of The Mandalorian season 3 teaser trailer returns to scientist Dr. Pershing (Omid Abtahi), as well as Mando’s friend and bounty hunter leader Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), who is wears some sort of royal attire as he encounters a host of suspicious individuals. And is it a 3PO-series protocol droid I see behind Greef? The first trailer for The Mandalorian season 3 ends with footage of Peli Motto (Sedaris), more action, and Grogu witnessing fireworks.

Mandalorian season 3 is coming in 2023 above Disney + and Disney + Hotstar. Since we were previously informed of a February 2023 release date, the lack of a month in the trailer indicates a delay. With Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2 set in January 2023, I think it makes sense that Lucasfilm wouldn’t want two Star Wars series to collide with each other.
