17 Best Camera Bags, Straps, Accessories, and Backpacks (2021)

We tested so many, so much of the camera bag. Here are others that we really liked but that have been overshadowed by our top picks.

Wandrd Roam 9L Sling for $149: Wandrd’s new sling comes in three sizes: 3, 6 and 9 liters. I tried the second one, and it became the pack I carry on all my bikes and e-scooter riding. It can be carried as a sling, crossbody bag, or belt, and since the soft padding fits my back, it’s really nice to wear for long periods of time. The combination of 840 and 1680D ballistic nylon and a water-resistant YKK zipper makes it feel like it’s well worth twice its price. There’s also plenty of space for cameras, lenses, and other accessories. Need to bring a tripod? Secure it to the bottom with the included straps. Need to carry a large tablet or laptop? Understand Wandrd’s Laptop Case ($46), elegant vertical slots in the most rear pocket. The only reason this option isn’t listed above as an exhaustive recommendation is because of delivery delays; it won’t arrive until spring 2022.

Domke F-832 Shoulder Bag for $120: This is the bag that I (Julian) used for 2014 December parade over Washington, DC, (The Domke bag is also the official camera bag of White House News Photographers Association). Reasonable warning: The padding on the bottom isn’t thick, and the accessories attached are flimsy via a single velcro on the inside of the bag. But I still like this bag because it’s very roomy. Back when my photo set included a camera and a spare battery, I could put my spare clothes, laptop, and toiletries in this bag without having to think much about packing. arrange anything. The waxy canvas exterior doesn’t immediately indicate you have camera gear inside, which is a boon when traveling.

Gitzo Legende Camera Backpack for $230: This Gitzo bag has arguably the best aesthetic of any backpack in this guide, as if you were Indiana Jones embarking on a new adventure. There’s a side access pocket, but accessing anything else in the bottom camera block is a chore. It’s just not designed to be very intuitive. There is a separate section for your laptop, but many of the zippered pockets, side pockets, and pockets are very small and can only fit so much.

Lowepro PhotoSport Outdoor Backpack III 15L for $230: This pack just looks good on the trail and can only fit a small DSLR or mirrorless camera in its detachable block (with side access!). It will pair well with your other hiking gear and has plenty of room for snacks and anything else you want on short hikes (including a 2-liter water tank) . It is made from 75% recycled fabric.
