Singers and musicians Dream released a statement after being charged with rape and sexual battery in a recently filed lawsuit.

More Details on the Lawsuit & Allegations Against The-Dream
According to USA Today, the lawsuit against The-Dream was filed in California on Tuesday, June 4. The outlet notes that the singer’s real name is Terius Gesteelde-Diamant. Additionally, the lawsuit was filed by a woman named Mango Chanaaz. The Guardian notes that Mangroe is also known by his stage name Channii Monroe.
Mangroe is said to have accused the 46-year-old man of rape, trafficking and sexual battery. The woman accused the musician of “luring” her into an “abusive” relationship, which she also said was “violent and manipulative.” Furthermore, Magroe is said to have called her experiences with The-Dream “nothing more than a long nightmare.”
According to the source, Mangroe and The-Dream allegedly began their relationship under the premise that he would help her “pursue a recording and publishing deal.” At the time, Mangroe was 23 years old and was reportedly seeking deals with record labels The-Dream and Epic Records.
“… Dream exploited Ms. Mangroe for his base desires, manifested through violent sexual acts and cruel psychological torture,” the lawsuit asserts, according to USA Today.
However, Mangroe claimed that their relationship included him having “intense” sex with her and forcing her to drink too much alcohol. Additionally, Mangroe also accused The-Dream of choking her until she almost passed out on one occasion. Furthermore, the woman also accused the musician of raping her in the back of the truck, forcing her to perform sex acts in a public movie theater, and refusing to wear a condom when they had sex.
Mangroe also claimed The-Dream recorded their sex act and used the recording to “intimidate her into silence.”
USA Today reported that Mangroe’s music career eventually ended and that she is still dealing with the trauma 10 years later.
“Choosing to speak out about the trauma I survived was one of the hardest decisions of my life, but ultimately, what Dream did to me made it impossible for me to live the life I envisioned. indulge yourself and pursue your goals as a singer and songwriter. ,” Mangroe told the outlet exclusively. “Finally, my silence became too painful and I realized I needed to tell my story to heal. The lawsuit comes amid multiple allegations of sexual assault in the music industry
The charges against The-Dream come more than ten years after he was accused of assaulting and strangling his then-girlfriend, Lydia Nam, according to PEOPLE. According to the source, Nam accused The Dream of committing an act of violence against her on April 4, 2013, when she was reportedly pregnant with their child.
According to The Guardian, although the singer-songwriter was charged with “assault, strangulation, reckless endangerment of children and harassment”, prosecutors reportedly dropped the case against him , according to The Guardian.
Additionally, the charges against The-Dream come on the heels of shocking allegations against another music industry veteran, Sean “Diddy” Combs. To date, Combs has been accused of sexual assault, harassment, rape and sex trafficking in numerous civil lawsuits.
The allegations against the music mogul initially shocked fans after his ex-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, accused him of the behavior in November 2023.
As The Shade Room previously reported, Combs denied that this was an attempt to “quickly pay salaries.” However, in May, surveillance footage of a 2016 incident between the former couple substantiated Ventura’s allegations of Combs’ violence toward her.
Mangroe is currently represented by the same attorneys as Ventura, Douglas H. Wigdor and Meredith Firetog. Additionally, attorneys compared the charges against The-Dream to those against Diddy.
“This is another horrific example of how men in the music industry use their power and influence to manipulate and harm others,” the attorneys said. “Dream, like Sean Combs did to Ms. Ventura and others, used his position as a prominent recording artist and producer to subject Ms. Mangroe to severe physical abuse. physical, psychological and sexual.”
