Peter Fury gave a brutally honest assessment of the women who had previously shared the ring with Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall – bluntly describing them as ‘crap.’
Speaking at the press conference for the fight for the now-delayed undisputed middleweight world championship, Fury didn’t deny his word in response to Shields’ criticism of Marshall’s background.
“I just want to add this – I think everyone in the division, that both of you fought, is crap.
“That’s why both [Shields and Marshall] sitting here. Because these two are two of the best – they are the only two diamonds in a sack! “

Shields’ criticism of Marshall’s previous opponents was a recurring theme throughout the build-up to the war – however Team Marshall was clearly not overly impressed with names defeated by ‘ The Gwoat’ on their way to winning three of the four middleweight world titles.
Fury went on to say that the winner of the historic fight will stand without controversy as the top dog in the 160lb division.
“This is why we are here. These are two elite fighters – let’s get started and see who is the best in the division. Because there’s no one else in it! “
With the fight now Officially postponed due to the Queen’s death on Thursday eveningBoxing fans around the world will assume that both women still have a chance to assert themselves as number 1.
