The horse capital of the world is one of the best places to live in the United States in 2024-25, according to US News & World Report rankings.
In the rankings published on May 21, Lexington ranked 15th on the rankings. list. The horse industry is mentioned prominently as a driver of jobs and the economy, and a contributor to the high quality of life in the region.
“Lexington relies on the equestrian industry as a major economic driver, and it is a huge part of the city’s culture and identity,” the publication notes. “Horse farms surround the city, many streets are named after Triple Crown winners, and horse statues are displayed in parking lots and city parks. The horse industry is essential to Lexington so much so that zoning restrictions were imposed to protect hundreds of neighboring farms from urban encroachment.” clutter.

U.S. News & World Reports ranked 150 cities for 2024-2025 based on value, as places to live, strong job markets and high quality of life.
Other cities with strong ties to the list include Louisville, Ky. (No. 42) and Ocala, Fla., at No. 78. Several Florida cities made the list, including Naples, which took the top spot.
