The horse industry helps make Lexington the most livable city


The horse capital of the world is one of the best places to live in the United States in 2024-25, according to US News & World Report rankings.

In the rankings published on May 21, Lexington ranked 15th on the rankings. list. The horse industry is mentioned prominently as a driver of jobs and the economy, and a contributor to the high quality of life in the region.

“Lexington relies on the equestrian industry as a major economic driver, and it is a huge part of the city’s culture and identity,” the publication notes. “Horse farms surround the city, many streets are named after Triple Crown winners, and horse statues are displayed in parking lots and city parks.
