The Flying Scotsman is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a range of luxury rides



The Flying Scotsman, perhaps the most legendary locomotive in the world, will celebrate its 100th anniversary this year with a series of special rides across the UK.

Famous for its daily service between London and Edinburgh, Flying Scotsman is offering some rare opportunities to experience its carriages on a number of specially added day routes passing by many scenic spots different scenes.

Among the celebratory routes is the Great Yarmouth Flyer, which departs from London King’s Cross and winds through picturesque Fens and Norfolk, England.

The focal point of the celebration will be the Flying Scotsman Centenary Weekender from June 30 to July 4. The cruise promises an unforgettable weekend trip from London to Edinburgh via York, England.

During the trip, Standard class passengers will be offered a one-night stay at the York Hotel, followed by three nights at the Edinburgh Hotel. Tickets start at £925 (about $1,178) per person (not including accommodation).

For those looking for a more enjoyable experience, Premier class offers additional perks like five breakfasts, four lunches and reserved seats in first class carriages. Premium class tickets start from £1,635 ($2,083) per person (not including accommodation).

In honor of the centenary, many exhibits will celebrate the iconic steamship’s rich history; There will also be a Centennial Festival at the Locomotion railway museum in Shildon, England. The event will feature hands-on activities and live workshops documenting the history of the train.
