The dog ran away from the burning San Diego apartment unharmed – Miracles in real life
Miracles happen every day and if you need proof, keep reading.
Last Friday, Jarrett Gautt was out for dinner with his family, so he fed his Brownie, a 3-year-old cross-border breed, and locked the door of his San Diego apartment.
He turned around to find his ground floor apartment engulfed in flames.
His only thought was to save Brownie.
Gautt grabbed a fire extinguisher and rushed into his apartment to find his dog, but the flames and smoke were so intense that he had to turn around.
“I was almost disoriented as soon as I stepped on a pair of feet. It was thick black smoke,” he told local news station 10 News.
Gautt refused to give up and started smashing the bedroom window and calling Brownie to rescue him – but Brownie didn’t show up.
Firefighters arrived and the devastated Gautt was told to step back as they proceeded to put out the raging blaze.
Gautt thought his best friend had passed away, and with tears in his eyes, he said: “I feel like I can’t save him, like I let my dog die.”
But 40 minutes later a miracle happened.
One of the neighbors gathered outside the apartment building spotted something white in the parking lot and Gautt ran as fast as he could to see if it was Brownie.
And it was!
“He crept in and out of the fire truck… He picked it up and picked it up, and all the neighbors ran out,” recalls Gautt. “He’s definitely a miracle, a Brownie miracle.”
The resilient puppy escaped unharmed. No one really knows how, but all that matters is that he is safe and reunited with his father.
