The distressed dog adoption officer was stuck in a hot car for hours
About a month ago, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) answered a call about a dog trapped in a hot car. At the time, they suspected that the dog had been trapped in the car for more than two hours. After further research, the ASPCA announced that they believe the dog was indeed in the vehicle for 24 hours.
The temperature outside in the mid-80s on that day, could reach over 100 degrees in a parked car in just ten minutes. The dog will die if people don’t express concern for it. His recovery time was long, but now, he has found his happiness forever.
Fight for your life
Several concerned New Yorkers called the police when they spotted a fluffy white dog in a hot car. The car was turned off, and the windows were closed with the dog trapped inside, on a leash.
Members of the NYPD 19 Precinct gathered around the vehicle and recorded the rescue as it unfolded. An employee broke the glass on the passenger window and reached in to unlock the car. The car alarm goes off for a few seconds but then stops when the employee opens one of the rear doors to take the dog.
“Yesterday afternoon temperatures hovered in the mid 80s & on an 85° day it only took 10 minutes for the inside of a car to reach a deadly 102°! Animals should not be left unattended in a car in these dangerous conditions — thankfully the puppy was rescued and is being cared for,” NYPD 19 Precinct wrote on Twitter.
Officers took the dog to the ASPCA Animal Rehabilitation Center in Manhattan. He spent a month there receiving medical and behavioral treatment. Then he was ready for adoption.
Hot car, hot dog rescue — thanks to concerned New Yorkers who saw this puppy locked in a car for over 2 hours and called 911!
Our police responded when they discovered the car was turned off, the windows closed and the dog distressed. They broke the window, took the puppy out and took it to the vet for care. The criminal investigation continues. pic.twitter.com/B5MdVT6UUe

Dog adoption officer
The dog, an American Eskimo, now known as Snow, found his perfect family in no time. NYPD Officer Aruna Maharaj fell in love with Snow during the rescue, so she kept in touch with the ASPCA while he recovered.
The ASPCA said: “From the moment Officer Maharaj was involved in this case, she knew Snow was special. “She immediately took him into her car with the air conditioning on, where he sat on her lap, licked her face, and would not leave her company.”
Officer Maharaj officially receives Snow after he has undergone all of his necessary care. Snow has adapted well to her new family and even gets along with her new feline siblings. He likes to have a large yard to run around and he often walks to the park with his family. He is living the dream!
The NYPD hasn’t mentioned anything about Snow’s previous owners, but hopefully, they were punished for letting Snow die in that hot car. No dog deserves to go through that.
