Reasons to get an IHG Rewards card in addition to rewards
Earning up to 175,000 points for adding a new card to your wallet is tempting, but these three cards offer a lot of potential value beyond that initial score.
elite status
Each IHG Rewards card provides an automatic number of elite status levels.
For example, IHG Rewards Premier and IHG Rewards Premier Business cardholders will automatically earn IHG Platinum Elite status. TPG currently values Platinum Elite status at $1,245 for those who earn it through their stay. Obviously, that’s less for those who stay less often at IHG-branded hotels, but you’ll be able to refund the $99 annual fee for the consumer or business version of the Premier card if you spend more than a few nights per year at an IHG Property.
Wednesday night bonus benefits
All IHG Rewards cardholders automatically receive rewards for the fourth consecutive night. In short, when you redeem points for stays of four nights or more, the fourth night is free.
The value of this benefit depends on your travel style. For travelers who only book a short stay in a hotel, this is not very helpful. But for visitors who stay long enough to take advantage of this privilege, it can be incredibly worthwhile. And there is no limit to how many points you can save with this benefit.
TPG IHG point value for 0.5 cents each. Thus, a single Wednesday night bonus at the property 20,000 points saves you $100 in IHG points.

The IHG Rewards card helps you accumulate points quickly thanks to an extensive bonus categories — including gasthis can be a costly recurring purchase for many households.
But, it gets better than that. Since Premium IHG Rewards and Top IHG Enterprise Award both grant you Platinum Elite status automatically, you’ll also earn 50% bonus points for staying at an IHG hotel. IHG Rewards members earn 10 points per dollar spent at most properties, so the 50% elite bonus offers 15 points per dollar at our properties. IHG. Add that to the 10 points per dollar you earn with the card and you’ll get (at least) a total of 25 points per dollar spent on the card while staying at an IHG hotel.
20% off when buying points
Finally, if you need to top up your IHG points balance, you can get a 20% discount on purchasing points with your card. Combined with the ability to issue a free night’s certificate, this perk can come in handy if you’re looking to save your rewards for aspirational vacations.
Applicable laws
You can have more than one IHG credit card, but know that the IHG Rewards card, like all other Chase cards, is subject to the Chase Regulations. 24/5 luật rule.
