Ah, the 3D platform. Since then Super mario 64 land and show everyone how good the three-dimensional background is maybe there were developers hoping to capture just a little bit of the magic of that game. It was a difficult act to do, even for the plumber himself, but his own Switch outing find him at the top of his game.
Compared to the massive catalog of 2D platforms available – a very impressive selection, we decided to divide it into Best 2D platformer and Best Metroidvanias on Switch – potential list 3D platformers is a bit thinner, although it has certainly grown in the years since the console came out. Arguably, none of Nintendo’s platforms enjoyed as much of the 3D platforming we saw during the genre’s N64 heyday, but those collecting contests were obsolete by the early 1990s when games like Halo heralds the ascension of first person shooter game on the console.
However, every now and then a plant reminds us of the good days of Banjo-Kazooie and Glover. The Switch still amassed some impressive examples of the genre, and while they may not reach the same heights as the Italian gentlemen’s hot air balloon, they certainly offer a background experience. Great platform when the adventure is over.
So, let’s take a look at — in no particular order — the best 3D platforms on Switch.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a wonderful colorful fun adventure for our little pink friend. The first fully three-dimensional main entry in the franchise is bursting with fun and creativity, managing to transform everything we know and love about previous Kirby games. into this brand new arena while adding many exciting new aspects as it progresses. Mouthful mode is just as entertaining as it is in the trailers, each level is filled with secrets and dripping with great detail, and packed with side activities, collectibles, and fun partner here to keep you entertained and come back for more for a long time. What an epic way to celebrate Planet Popstar’s 30th most successful year.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is a brutally honest recreation of some of the earliest successes in 3D platforming. The levels are smooth, beautiful, and reproduce the feel of the original brilliantly. Newcomers to the series may be baffled by the difficulty spike and little or no explanation for some of the better mechanics. All the fun and downsides of the original three games are here, for better or for worse, and despite some odd design choices, it can still turn out to be a real re-read. the fun of some old classics, warts and all. This is definitely worth a look if you’re a fan of 3D platformers, but as was the case in the ’90s, Crash isn’t on the same level as Mario when it comes to playability, creativity, and entertainment. However, if you’re after a nostalgic ride, it’s hard to beat.

Yooka-Laylee is a worthy modern tribute to the collecting competitions of the old days – coming from the many developers who created the one-of-a-kind Banjo-Kazooie – and it comes highly recommended for Switch owners. This feels like a 1996 game with all the quality-of-life improvements of a modern game, making for a great mix of new and old. While it can be a bit uneven at times, the game as a whole achieves what the Playtonic developers set out to do; to take back some of that classic Rareware magic and create a new game with the same mischievous spirit for fans who have waited so long. With compositions by rare musicians David Wise and Grant Kirkhope, you know it makes sense.

de Blob 2 keeps many of the same traits as in the original Wii game, with both the great – and not so great – features remaining largely unchanged in this updated Switch version. The cameras can still be difficult to use at times and things can feel a bit also easy in some places, but the brand new 2D parts and the overall experience has a slightly more refined feel that put the sequel above original in our ranking order. Either game will go well – especially with younger audiences – but this one is about to hit first place.

Oh, the controversy — a 3D platform game where you can’t jump! Digital Sumo snake pass is a real gem in the Switch library and definitely worth a look for anyone looking for a cool palette cleaner. It’s unlike anything else we’ve played before; a new platform experience that will keep you engaged until the very end. Solid visuals, unique gameplay, memorable soundtrack (again David Wise) and decent replay value make this game well worth your time and we totally recommend it. . If you’re looking to take a chance and play something unique, the Snake Pass is well worth checking out.

Super Mario World 3D is one of the better linear Mario games and anyone who plays it for the first time is absolutely delighted. Add to that the curious bonus adventure that is Bowser’s Fury and you’ve got a package that offers great value for money. It’s not without flaws, but most of these (online multiplayer, repetitive quests in Bowser’s Fury) involve new additions; the main game itself is still as pure and perfect as it is on WiiU. If it’s just Super Mario 3D World on its own, we’ll cover it anyway; Bowser’s Fury is just the cherry on top.

Human: Fall Flat realize a simple truth: people falling is hilarious, and when they don’t seem hurt, it’s just an added bonus of no guilt. Playing as a wobbly, wobbly avatar takes a lot of getting used to and you probably never really get used to it, but the game leaves each level with plenty of style-appropriate solutions. your own personal. Tackle a five to six hour long adventure fight not as interesting as inviting a second player to join, even if the game’s performance suffers. We think you and some of your fellow humans might really love this little puzzle platformer. Over and over and over and over.

You must feel a little sorry for Poi and its developer PolyKid. You spend years creating your own 3D platform, put your heart and soul into it, and the whole universe will conspire to release it the same week as Super Mario Odyssey. Doh!
Even so, Poi: Explorer Edition is a great platform adventure in its own right. Anyone who enjoys a good ‘collect a contest’ will be in Heaven with this game – Medals are fun to work towards and finding anything extra collectable will take some time and effort significantly. If you like games of this genre, we definitely recommend you to try Poi. It deserves to be played.

‘ALRIGHT,’ you are thinking, ‘I made an exception for the Snake Pass, but now toad captain?!’
Well, despite the puzzle angle, it’s still a 3D platformer and the lack of a jump button doesn’t make it any less winning. With beautiful visuals and an upbeat soundtrack, Treasure Tracker is a real gem; An amazing and splendid puzzle platformer suitable for all ages and a game that you should definitely try if you haven’t already. Two-player cooperation makes this product even tastier and even a little more fun DLC nuggets for once you have completed the main game.
