In God of War Ragnarök, the relationship between Kratos and Atreus is at the heart of what defines our story. Although they are our central family, there are many others across the Nine Realms who will also make their mark on how the events leading up to Ragnarök unfolded.

We’re excited to announce a new partnership that will feature five incredibly talented artists capturing a selection of the relationships that stand out most in the story with their unique style in the Family Portrait Series. God of War Ragnarok family.

Over the next five weeks, Studio Santa Monica will release one of the portraits every Tuesday.

Drew Merritt – The Bear and the Wolf

Drew Merritt is a contemporary artist living in Los Angeles, California. Working across a variety of mediums, his style blends classic realism capturing the emotional nuances of his subjects.

Drew drew the heroes of our story, Kratos and Atreus, for his work – which focuses on the core family of the God of War Ragnarök.

Emma Rios – The Dwarf

Emma Ríos is a Spanish comic artist and illustrator whose cover work won her the 2020 Eisner Prize and works with many renowned artists in the comics industry. Her style organically combines environments and subjects into flexible compositions with beautiful color quality.

Emma’s work focuses on the Huldra Brothers, Brok and Sindri, along with the two dwarves you’ll meet on your journey in God of War Ragnarök.

“I like action games and hack and slash, so it’s easy for me to find it engaging. The last game, God of War (2018), has a touching story, plays very smoothly, and has beautiful art direction.”

Romina Tempest – Hero of Midgard

Romina Tempest is an illustrator and character designer who we’ve been happy to work with. B for Boy, Illustrated retelling of the events of God of War (2018). Romina’s work will be about the found family that Kratos and Atreus gathered with them on their journey across the Nine Realms.

“I’ve been playing God of War since it first came to PlayStation in the early 2000s. Ishida’s work focuses on the Aesir, the most powerful clan in the Nine Realms led by Odin, the All-Father.
