The alleged young thug delivered the Percocet pill in the court

Three contraband incidents allegedly made their way to court are causing delays in jury selection in the Atlanta rapper’s trial young thugs and more than a dozen other defendants.

The AJC reported Tuesday that the mother of one defendant was arrested after allegedly carrying “tobacco products” for her son in a clothing bag, following her arrest warrant.

On Wednesday, another defendant was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital after a separate smuggling case went to court for the third consecutive day of trial.

Fulton County prosecutors also allege that one of Young Thug’s accomplices, Kahlieff Adams, gave him a prescription painkiller, known as Percocet, at Wednesday’s public hearing – and that they have surveillance footage to prove it.

WSBTV obtained footage from the alleged interaction. A deputy discovered the transaction and confiscated what was later identified as a Percocet pill.

All three incidents were reported that delayed the jury selection process.

Cannabis hidden in shoes, Percocet handed over to young thug in court, accused

Last week, Fulton County District Judge Ural Glanville said an unidentified person dressed one of the defendants with marijuana hidden in his shoe.

“At a security checkpoint, a specific number of individuals attempted to bring clothing to one of your clients,” Glanville told defense attorneys. “There was contraband found.”

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, which handles court security, said court deputies and staff intercepted the clothing before the defendant received it. According to the sheriff’s office, no arrests have been made in the incident.

Only defense attorneys are allowed to bring clothing for the defendant to wear. However, since jury selection, the defendants all wear suits and shirts to court.

On Tuesday, Glanville again notified defense attorneys after someone allegedly tried to smuggle contraband inside the clothes of one of the defendants. Glanville declined to say which defendants were involved at the time but confirmed an arrest had been made and an investigation was underway.

According to an affidavit obtained by Channel 2 Action News, attorney Doug Weinstein, who represents Deamonte Kendrick, told officers he received a bag of clothes from his client’s mother. Weinstein also told officers he received a text message from the mother of Kendrick’s child saying she had placed a sealed envelope inside the bag. Kendrick is an Atlanta rapper who performs under the stage name Yak Gotti and has been charged with multiple counts, including murder.

According to the subpoena, Weinstein is said to have delivered the bag to Fulton County deputies, who searched the bag and found a white envelope with cigarette wrappers and tobacco products. Kendrick’s mother was arrested on the eighth floor of the courthouse, charged with willful misdemeanor, and released Wednesday on $1,500 bond.

According to the affidavit, Kendrick’s mother told officers she did not know what was inside the bag and gave it to Weinstein. An order was also issued against the mother of Kendrick’s child for knowingly committing a specific crime.

“The reason for the delay is that we had another case of alleged contraband being brought into our space. As a result and an investigation that followed, one of our inmates unfortunately had to go to Grady’s hospital,” Glanville said before announcing the trial would take a break for the day.

Glanville did not name the defendant who had to visit Grady. Calland’s client is Kahlieff Adams, who is serving a life sentence at Hays State Prison after authorities convicted him of murder in 2019.

Authorities are charging Adams with conspiracy to violate the RICO Act, attempted murder, and two counts of engaging in street crime gang activity.
