Volkswagen was spied on testing its next generation T-Roc crossover, is the company’s best-selling vehicle both here and in Europe in 2023.
It is expected to launch in 2025.
Last year, Volkswagen confirmed the new T-Roc, Tiguan And Passat will be of the brand the last new combustion engine vehicle in Europewith electric-only replacements following the release of the electric-only Mk9 Golf.
Photographers have been spying on a sneaky test of the new model – instead of covering it in bright camouflage like most brands use, Volkswagen has mocked it up to look as similar as possible to the current generation .
The new T-Roc has a similar shape to the current car, with a hatchback-like profile and rakish rear doors.
The headlight design has been refreshed with a slimmer profile, while LED light strips connect them through a redesigned front grille. This makes the T-Roc suitable for newer products like the latest one Tiguan.
The lower part of the front bumper has received the most notable change and now has a larger opening surrounded by a large amount of black trim. There is now also a large hexagonal cloth cover instead of a body-colored bumper.
At the rear there’s a new lower bumper design with a different reflector shape, while there’s now an LED strip connecting the taillights behind the Volkswagen badge.
The new T-Roc is expected to offer both petrol and diesel options, while plug-in hybrid variants will also be available for the first time.
It is expected to continue to offer both front- and all-wheel drive options.
Three turbocharged engine options are available on the current generation T-Roc in Australia, ranging from 110kW to 221kW.
The current range starts at $36,890 before on-roads for the base FWD CityLife and rises to $63,490 before on-roads for the AWD R.
Last year, Volkswagen sold 8,943 T-Rocs in Australia, far ahead of second place Amarok ute range with 6626 sales.
