Toyota is stepping up local testing of the upcoming LandCruiser Prado 250 Series before it hits showrooms later this year, with a prototype spotted sporting never-before-seen accessories before.
Image uploaded by Matt Moed Toyota Prado The owners of the Australia group on Facebook showed off the new model refueling at Bacchus Marsh, about an hour northeast of Melbourne, wearing equipment that was not previously featured in press materials.
This includes a body-colored strut bar – complete with integrated LED lights, winch and recovery points – as well as a snorkel that rises above the front door seal line.
A spokesperson for the brand said: “Toyota Australia can confirm that it is conducting local testing, including of accessories on the new LandCruiser Prado, which is expected to arrive in showrooms later in the year now”. Car expert.
Since Toyota is about to test these accessories on local roads with an Australian-made Prado, it’s likely we’ll see them in the options list when the 250 Series goes on sale in the coming months.
These images also show how the Prado’s dimensions have increased, with the upcoming 250 Series seemingly dwarfing the long-standing 150 Series parked behind it.
Although the exterior and interior are completely different from its predecessor, the new Prado will continue to be powered by a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine – now with mild hybrid support 48 volts with HiLux V- Positive.
The Prado’s power outputs (150kW and 500Nm) are unchanged despite 48V mild-hybrid support, but its torque converter automatic transmission now has two more ratios, increasing to eight speeds for spreading better transmission.
Toyota is yet to confirm the 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid powertrain will be offered in markets such as North America for a local launch, although Toyota Australia has said “deep learning” drive system.
