Second place in sales in Q1 2023 after Model Y is Toyota Corolla at 256,400 units, the report recorded lower sales despite being sold in many vehicle models, namely sedan, roadster And station wagon.

The Model Y ranked third in sales last year, behind the Corolla and another Toyota, the RAV4. According to data from 152 markets, 747,500 Model Ys were sold last year, up 91% from 2021.

In second place behind the Model Y is the Toyota Corolla, which sold 256,400 units in Q1 2023 across all models.

However, Corolla’s sales performance is on a downward trend, recording a 29% drop in sales in China and a 10% drop in the US market.

For Europe in particular, the number of new car registrations in March increased 26% to 1,414,815 units and in Q1 increased 17% to 3,220,806 units, which is the highest level since 2019, according to Jato Dynamics. Felipe Munoz, global analyst at Jato Dynamics, said: “The increase in registrations was largely explained by orders accumulated from many months earlier that could not be delivered due to lack of components at the time. there.

Battery-powered vehicles (BEVs) were a strong driver of this growth, with more than half of vehicle registrations in Q1 being BEVs, up 43% in volume in March to more than 219,000 units. Of these, Tesla accounted for 28% of all BEV registrations in Europe in March and 22% in the first quarter, as reported by Jato Dynamics.
