Tesla Cybertruck Is Beating Every Electric Truck in Sales

Say what you want about Tesla Cybertruck And the people who drive itBut people who want an electric pickup truck are choosing it over its competitors at a staggering rate. True, it’s a tiny fraction of the overall auto market, but back in July Cybertruck for sale almost on par with everything else in sales electric pickup truck combine.

According to new data from S&P Global, 5,175 Cybertrucks were delivered in July. In real terms, that’s a really strong number, but things get even crazier when you look at total EV truck deliveries. All other electric trucks combined, for example, only delivered 5,175 in July, Car News report. That’s a pretty incredible dominance for Elon Musk’s latest product. The Electric Truck almost outsold RivianR1T, Ford F-150 Lightning, Chevy Silverado Electric Vehicle, GMC Sierra EV And GMC Hummer EV Pickup Truck combine in summer months

In total, electric vehicle registrations rose to 118,273 in July – up from 100,620 a year earlier. Battery-powered vehicle market share US light vehicle market increased to 8.5 percent, up 0.9 percent from a year ago. Not too bad, but S&P asserts that much of that improvement was actually due to strong financial incentives. Hey, whatever.

The rest of the news is a bit mixed for Tesla. The automaker held a 48 percent market share of vehicles delivered, which was down slightly from 56 percent in the same period last year. Still, 48 percent is a wild card.

That said, Tesla is showing some signs of weakness, according to Car News. The Model 3 saw a 31 percent drop in registrations in July compared to the same month a year ago. That’s tough news considering the car was just refreshed, but it makes sense. Cheapest Model 3 lost access to the federal EV tax credit earlier this year. because battery power requirements are becoming more stringent.

In many ways, other brands are starting to catch up to Tesla… in a way. Electric cars are not Tesla Registrations are up 38 percent year-over-year. Here’s how it breaks down, according to Car News:

Hyundai Motor Group had 10,846 registrations for its Hyundai, Kia and Genesis brands, ranking second, the data showed. General Motors, in third place, had 9,767 registrations for its Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Brightdrop brands. Ford Motor Co. had 9,504, ranking fourth, S&P Global Mobility said.

Registrations for the Rivian R1S crossover, the startup’s best-selling consumer vehicle, fell 18 percent in July from a year earlier to 1,545. Kia’s EV9, also a three-row electric crossover, had 1,960 registrations in July, surpassing the Rivian R1S. The EV9 went on sale in December.

Total registrations for Rivian’s R1S and R1T pickup trucks, its two consumer models, fell 0.3 percent in July to 2,522. Rivian closed its Normal, Ill., plant in April to retool its refreshed R1s. Rivian, which includes commercial trucks, fell to seventh place among electric-vehicle brands in July from fourth in June, registration data show.

Certainly, other automakers are making some significant strides. Tesla when it comes to tram.
