“Of course it is very disappointing. It’s a fight that’s been on our radar for years,” WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford told Kate Abdo of her. good fight audio file. Of course, he was referring to a failed attempt to land a big spot and high hopes were placed on his bout with fellow welterweight Errol Spence. However, Crawford has made it clear that he has a career and family to focus on. “I have to do what’s best for me at the end of the day,” he said. With that said, Crawford has left the fight with Spence and is set to face David Avnesyan on December 12.

And don’t expect the undefeated world champion title to apologize for a Spence fight that didn’t come true. “I did everything that I had to do, what I could do to make the fight go on,” he said. When asked if he thought the fight could still be made, Crawford at least appeared confident it could. “There is always life in the war,” he said. “Things need to be made clear and both sides are right. That’s it. That’s the only thing I ever asked for. To be fair and transparent. That is so that.”

Abdo thinks Crawford may be worried about his legacy. However, Crawford has made it clear that he is pleased with the position of his legacy. “When you look at the legacy of Terence Crawford to the legacy of Errol Spence,” he said, “it was day and night.” He then went on to explain why he feels his legacy is secured. “You would say he was a three-weight world champion,” Crawford said of himself, “he was the undisputed world champion, he was the boxer of the year, he was the winner. ESPY award winner, he’s a linear champion in two different weight classes in his classes, he’s undefeated and he’s never fought melee in his boxing career.

Abdo then asked if Crawford would be disappointed if he retired without becoming the undisputed world welterweight champion. “Not at all,” he said. “I have already done that. I have already done that.” To be sure, Crawford has been undisputed before. “If I leave the sport unquestionably at 147,” he said, “it doesn’t stop me.” While it’s clear that Crawford wants to take on Spence at some point in the near future, it’s clear that Crawford appears content with his career if a fight with Spence doesn’t materialize.
