Tempest Galahad is a Dawn of the Monsters Ranger Character

13AM Games and WayForward are developing Dawn of the Monsters, a beat involving kaiju characters defeating alien opponents. Once everyone gets through it, they’ll be able to fight alone or with a friend using Aegis Prime, Ganira, Megadon, and Tempest Galahad to fight back. WayForward gives Siliconera exclusive insight into Tempest Galahad, a mechanic designed to fend off invading aliens. She is one of only four that is suitable for attacks that have an area of influence where enemies are further away from her.

This is the official WayForward profile of Jamila Senai. Based on the background, it makes Tempest Galahad sound like it’s inspired by things like Neon Genesis Evangelion or Pacific rim.

Jamila Senai was handpicked from DAWN’s training program to pilot the ATOM (Atomic Telekineally Operated Mech) Tempest Galahad. Her high synchronicity with the unit combined with her unparalleled piloting abilities made her the sole pilot of Tempest. ATOM’s Sheol-infused ranged attacks and Jamila’s tactical talent make her one of DAWN’s best weapons against the Nephilim threat.

Each Dawn of the Monsters characters fall into their own niche. While someone likes Aegis Prime Agile and relying on combos, Tempest Galahad is best when attacking groups at a distance. This means that her attacks are designed to help her control her position and opponents, as well as deal with enemies. So her Rocketheel Kick moves forward to hit, dealing damage and automatically letting her retreat when it’s done. Both her Delayed Detonation and Galvanic Gatling Heavy Hold attacks involve projectiles. The former uses one, while the latter involves gunfire. Her Thunderstorm Cannon attack also involves a ranged energy blast. That hits all enemies in front of her in a row.

This is the Tempest Galahad Rage Attacks move set.

  • Macroburst Shot (Cost: 2 Rage): Tempest uses his large cannon (Mk. XIV Ultimate Laser Cannon) to fire a long-range projectile infused with Sheol energy. This is a narrow, full-screen attack that stuns and knocks opponents out of Tempest. A great tool to deal damage and keep your distance.
  • Boltshock Mine (Price: 2 Rage): Tempest jumps back and throws a mine onto the battlefield. It explodes by tapping on the same input used to place the Boltshock Mine (no extra rage cost). The explosion constricts the air around it, causing the opponent to be pulled towards the mine. After the pull, it explodes, causing a massive explosion that knocks out any opponent in the radius. Useful for crowd control and maneuvering.
  • Reload (Price: 1 Rage): Tempest’s most important ability is also her unique ability. She loads special bullets into her cannon chamber, but this move deals no damage. A bar will pop up above Tempest with a visible “sweet spot” and a moving slider. If a button is pressed when the slider overlaps the blue bar, then Tempest will be rewarded with two bullets in the chamber. If the button is pressed at any other time, or if you press nothing, Tempest is rewarded with only one bullet. Tempest can only hold a maximum of 4 bullets in the chamber. Timing is crucial to maximize ammo count! As for what bullets do, they increase the hit ability of certain attacks. When those attacks are used, a bullet will be used and a powerful variation of the attack will be released. The attacks affected are:
  • Macroburst Shot Loaded Variant (Price: 2 Rage): Dramatically increases damage and shocks enemies. Shocked opponents will be stunned for a short period of time until it wears off.
  • Boltshock Mine Loading Variation (Price: 2 Rage): Increases damage and ionizes the area around the mine, shocking all enemies near the mine.
  • Hold heavy 1 variant loaded: Increases damage and changes to a multi-attack that knocks direct opponents into the air for a combo attack.
  • Holds heavy 2 load variations: Increases damage and knocks enemies away from Tempest.
  • Dash Attack variant loaded: Increases damage and recoil. Also tosses opponents across the arena, causing a bounce wall.

This is how Tempest Galahad works Dawn of the Monsters.

In case you missed it, there’s also a new story trailer. It’s also different Dawn of the Monsters character.

Dawn of the Monsters coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Google Stadia in March 2022.
