Student game trailer launches when pre-registration opens

designed to evoke China’s urban fantasy aesthetic. The game has also opened pre-registration in China. [Thanks, Superpixel!]

Test Code: Student Game trailer below.

Code: Student revolves around the idea of supernatural elements lurking in the shadows of Zhongpu District, a small nine-block neighborhood under the jurisdiction of Kowloon City. Controlling a variety of characters, players will collect supernatural clues while pretending to film the neighborhood to uncover hidden elements and truth in the nooks and crannies of the city.

The gameplay also involves side-scrolling, interaction, combat, and platforming exploration. Players will interact with characters in Live2D animated cutscenes and confront powerful bosses. Different characters also have different play styles and gimmicks. A character appears to trigger a ranged attack, placing a tile on the screen to “shoot” enemies like a shooting gallery. Another sequence also involves moving and collecting items in the 3D rear view.

Tianren Lab also announced that feedback from the previous preview testing phase will be included in the final release of the game. The game still doesn’t have a definite release window, although it is likely to launch in 2023 in China. International release plans have yet to be announced.

Code: Student is being developed for iOS and Android devices.
