A mail carrier in South Dakota had to take a detour when he found an abandoned puppy in the middle of a gravel road. The black and white puppy with large ears appeared to be only a few weeks old at the time. He was exhausted and underweight, so the mail carrier put him in a box that usually contained packages. She kept him with her for the rest of the mail route, and he was a great companion.
The puppy has come a long way since then. At the end of the route, the mail carrier made a special delivery. She took the puppy to a shelter to make sure it was taken care of.
Priority mail
The organization has moved the lovely puppy to Ruff Start Rescue in Minnesota. After hearing about his journey, they named him “Priority”. A woman named Taya offered to foster Priority so she could help him gain weight and be healthier.
Priority was only about seven pounds when he entered foster care, but he had no problem keeping up with larger dogs. He’s very friendly and confident despite everything he’s been through.

“You could tell it was a much bigger dog in such a small body. He’s a good fit for our resident group,” Taya said. “Despite being ten times smaller, Priority definitely holds its ground in some epic wrestling matches!”
As Priority was getting ready to begin his search for his permanent family, the rescue posted about him on Facebook. No one could resist his bunny ears and slanted head, so they knew he wouldn’t last long.
Delivery to Eternal House
Sure enough, Priority found his permanent home shortly after his post was published. Priority’s adoptive family delivered the puppy to his new mother, and the two of them seemed delighted to see each other. She intends to keep his name.
His new family says they have about 5 acres of trails at home that Priority can explore with them. It was clear that he would never have to feel left out again.

Azure Davis from Ruff Start Rescue hopes this story reminds people to call an organization if they find an abandoned animal. One call can save a life.
“It’s important that people know that there are organizations like ours that can get involved and help provide resources to find the owner of a lost pet and if that doesn’t work,” Davis said. , find a home for that animal,” Davis said. “We just want to empower more people to make that initial savings.”
There isn’t always a decent mail carrier around to save the dogs, so we all need to do our part. Make it a priority to find the wonderful life he has today because so many people have helped and supported him.
