Stray dog ​​miraculously survived 8 gunshot wounds, including one in the face

When the Hill Country Humane Society was in Buchanan Dam, Texas, received an injured dog, they decided to name it Messiah. Why? Because it was an absolute miracle that he was still alive. Two year old Great Pyrenees the mixture was shot, not once but eight times, in various places on his body, including his face.

Now, they are hoping to find out who committed this horrific act of animal abuse.


Animal control officers responded immediately when they received a call that a dog was shot and is hiding under a nearby building.

“We named the dog Messiah. We are located in a rural area of ​​central Texas where there are many herders, so there is an abundance of cattle guard dog breeds. Unfortunately, many of them are not castrated or spayed, and like the Messiah, they are driven by natural instincts and wander around in search of a mate,” a Hill Country Humane Society spokesman told. know.

Once he was given Hill Country Humane Society, they immediately set to work trying to find a vet who could work with him. Then they quickly took him to the emergency room.

The poor dog was found in a really rough shape. His body was bloody, and he was clearly in pain. He was anemic, most likely from blood loss, and his stomach was bloated and needed to be drained.

After a thorough examination, it was confirmed that he had up to eight intact bullets or shrapnel embedded in the layers of his skin. One shot in his nose, another in his neck, one in his upper back, and one bullet through his hind leg. The wound near his nose remains the most worrisome, as the shard is located so close to his nasal cavity.

It was an absolute miracle that he not only survived the wounds and blood loss, but every shot missed his major arteries. While he has a long journey ahead of him to make a full recovery, Messiah is now joined by an incredible adoptive family who can give him all the love and care. that this lovely baby deserves.
