Status of Troy, Galway stakes remains downgraded


Betting status for the Troy Stakes (G3) and Galway Stakes, both off-turf versions taking place on August 10 at Saratoga Race Trackwill still be downgraded due to being moved to the main track, according to the US Ratings Stake Commission.

Any turf stake will automatically be demoted one level when it is removed from the turf. The race will then be reviewed by the AGSC to see if it warrants restoration to its original stake state.

The Troy Stakes, a 5 1/2 furlong race for horses 4 years old and up, will remain downgraded to a Level 3 race. Monitor a 7 year old child Structure gelding, won at Troy this year, his first win in graded races and his fourth career win in the black category. He won by 3 1/4 lengths as the favorite. The Galway, also run at 5 1/2 furlongs for 3-year-old mares, was originally a listed race but will now be recorded as an unlisted race for black horses. The Power of Halina a daughter of Mitole won at Galway and took her second black horse win of the year. Before Galway, she finished third in the Victory Ride Stakes (G3) on the main track at Aqueduct Racetrack. Baraye came second with a head in Galway and Value Area third place
