Sprint Expressway entrance to Jalan Maarof, Bangsar will be closed from October 29 – replacing PBD detour

Those of you who use the Sprint Expressway every day, you will have noticed that the traffic conditions from PJ to Bangsar have worsened over the past few months, especially during rush hour. Guess what, already bad congestion is going up a few notches with this latest development.

DBKL has announced that there will be demolition and construction work related to an elevated bridge at Jalan Johar, Bangsar. Work will begin tomorrow, October 29 – therefore, the entrance to Jalan Maarof and Bangsar from the Sprint Highway (direction PJ to KL) will be completely closed to traffic from this date. There is no end date mentioned in the press release, so this diversion will be indefinite.

This means that you will not be able to go up to Bangsar Hill by turning right at Sprint Jalan Maarof exit (2314). The alternative routes are a major complication – one lap in the ongoing Pavilion Damansara Heights development (formerly known as Pusat Bandar Damansara) before reaching the Jalan Maarof facility at the metro station.

It will be chaotic, affecting everyone using Sprint and not just those coming to Bangsar. Alternative routes from PJ to KL would be via Penchala Link, the road towards Hartamas and Mont Kiara, Kerinchi Link / Jalan Syed Putra or Universiti Malaya / Jalan Syed Putra. You will know that all these routes are congested with no additional load, so good luck to all of us. In any case, drive safely and be patient, for that is all we can do.
