Special Exhibition “Fairy Tales, Sagas and Symbols” at Liechtenstein NationalMuseum, Vaduz
Vaduz – How did the world and life come into being in its diversity, what is the plan of the supernatural forces that determine destiny, what is the cause of evil, sickness and death, and what are the causes of evil? What extraordinary work is being noticed? With its new major exhibition, the Liechtenstein NationalMuseum introduces the themes of fairy tales, myths, legends, allegories and sagas, which are a fundamentally important part of every culture and its collective memory. . The exhibition pursues themes through the narratives of people from different cultures. These themes, which began deeply in prehistory and spread at an early stage, still resonate today in the world of modern fantasy books and films. They unfold in myths, sagas, fables and legends of antiquity, leading to our world of European fairy tales, which were originally handed down only orally. Wicked gods, brave heroes, evil spirits and witches, magical hybrids, innocent unicorns, benevolent fairies and mighty dragons and legendary swords and valuable treasures among the many other characters and traits encountered in these stories. They are written in different cultures. Engraved in clay, penned by the Brothers Grimm, Andersen, Wild and La Fontaine, illustrated by Doré, Richter, Kubin, Vogeler, Dulac, Schädler and many more. The world of Liechtenstein sagas is also introduced in this setting. We are organizing two more exhibitions dedicated to fairy tales, legends and symbols: “NIBELUNGENLIED” by German-Russian artist Genia Chef and this year exhibiting Easter eggs “Once upon a time…these… story egg”. Three books will be published for the exhibition: “Fairy Tales, Sagas and Symbols”, “Liechtenstein Sagas”, and “Nibelungenlied” by Genia Chef.

The exhibition is open to the public from Thursday, April 1, 2021 to Sunday, September 12, 2021. Opening hours are as follows: Tuesday, Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. , Wednesday 10 am to 8 pm.
