Source — Knicks to get Josh Hart, send Cam Reddish, others to Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers trading Josh Hart arrive New York Knickssources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Wednesday night.

In return, New York is sending red orange, Ryan Arcidiacono, Svi Mykhailiuk and a future protected first-round pick to Portland, sources said.

The deal came on the eve of the NBA trade deadline.

Obtained in a term agreement with New Orleans Pelicans Last season, Hart was averaging 9.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists for the Trail Blazers this season. He played all 51 games for the team, starting each and having the highest 33.4 minutes of his career.

Hart, 27, is one of the best home goalscorers in the league and he’s capable of defending multiple positions. His £8.2 is the most for a player at 6 feet-5 or less. He also leads the NBA in counterattacks per game between players 6-5 or shorter.

Counterattacking on attack has been a strong point for the Knicks this season, as they ranked third in strike rate and first in second chance points per game.

Offensively, Hart is a good support and has a shot rate of more than 70%. However, his 3-point efforts have plummeted this season, falling below 3 points per game after averaging 4 in the 2021-22 season.

Hart is earning $12.9 million this season and has a player option for the same amount next season. If he exercises the rollback option before the June 25 deadline, the contract becomes unsecured.

Reddish, 23, is looking for a new opportunity after being dropped from the rotation with the Knicks. New York bought the Duke product in a deal with the Hawks last year but Reddish hasn’t played a game since December 3 and hasn’t started since November 18.

10 pick in the 2019 NBA draft, Reddish has struggled to find consistent game time throughout his career but has shown scoring potential at various points.

Reddish is averaging 8.4 points per game while shooting from close to 45%.

He’s in the final year of his rookie season and is set to make his limited free agency debut this summer.

Information from ESPN’s Bobby Marks was used in this report.
