Slugging in Skincare is trending — Here’s what we know
Although the extremely hot term “slugging” has only been around for a short time in the beauty industry, thanks to the K-beauty community and various skin care believers, the concept of using Vaseline to keep Moisturizing the skin is nothing new. At last, Vaseline is an age-old product that can be found in most memaws’ medicine cabinets. It has many uses, from healing burns and scrapes, to treating diaper rash, preventing chafing and moisturizing dry skin. Marilyn Monroe swore to Vaseline to keep her skin soft and glowing (she reportedly applied it every morning three hours before taking a shower).
“It was recently named and popularized by the Korean skin care world, however growing up with two Black grandmothers, I was “sliding” before it became famous,” explains. Tiffany L. Clay, MD, FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist based in Atlanta. “I remember my grandmother taught me when I was very young to put ointment on my body after I showered to keep me hydrated all day.”
