Sir David Amess dies: Crowds line the streets to pay their respects
Hundreds of people came to pay their respects to Congressman David Amess as a memorial service was held in Southend.
Sir David, 69, was stabbed to death during an election operation in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, on October 15.
A private ceremony, attended by his family, was held at St Mary’s Church in Prittlewell, and his coffin was then carried through the streets.
The crowd clapped and then fell silent as the horse-drawn hearse stopped outside his constituency office in Leigh Road before making its way to the chapel of rest, ahead of Sir David’s funeral at the Cathedral Westminster.
