Following a second place in the April 27 Roxelana Overnight Stakes in her 2024 debut, Juddmonte’s Brilliant blue Look for her first graded stakes win in the $250,000 Winning Color Stakes (G3) on May 27 at Churchill Downs.
Ten other mares and fillies are entered, although there is one, the 2023 Sugar Swirl Stakes (G3) winner Sylph may alternately race in the Memorial Day Sprint Race at Lone Star Park Monday.
Outside-drawn Dazzling Blue, winner of his first three starts last year at 2- and 3-year-olds, including the 2022 Letellier Memorial Stakes, is in the midst of a four-race slide. Before Roxelana, daughter of into mischief finished third last year in the Raven Run Stakes (G2), third in the Prioress Stakes (G2) and second in the Victory Ride Stakes (G3).
“I thought her last run here was a really good Derby week,” said trainer Brad Cox, who also noted she loved the Churchill surface. I thought maybe she needed the race after being laid off a little bit.”
Zeitlos was off the pace to score a late win in the $200,000 Roxelana Overnight Stakes under Joel Rosario!

In addition to Dazzling Blue and Spirit Wind, there were two other winners in Winning Colors: three times Turfway Park bet winner BG Warrior and 2023 Audubon Oaks winner Positano sunset .
The field also includes the runner-up 2023 Test Stakes (G1). Obviously nothing has changed who won an optional allowance in a claiming race at Churchill on April 30 in his first start for trainer Steve Asmussen.
