Singtel says its standalone 5G coverage in Singapore has exceeded 95%, three years ahead of the government’s 2025 target. The local telco is looking to drive adoption among businesses with use cases that include the public, transport and tourism sectors.
Their nationwide standalone 5G network now covers more than 1,300 outdoor locations and 400 indoor locations, including underground, according to Singtel. The mobile carrier was awarded the 3.5GHz and millimeter wave spectrum in June 2020, when Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) Industry Regulatory Authority awarded two nationwide 5G licenses. An additional 2.1GHz spectrum was released in November 2021.
Singtel’s 5G infrastructure runs on Ericsson equipment, while the parties are jointly licensed 5G StarHub and M1 built their network on Nokia. All three carriers have previously launched their respective consumer services, running these on non-standalone 5G architectures. Licensees are expected to have at least 95% of standalone network coverage by the end of 2025.
In Friday’s statement, Singtel said it was looking to drive 5G adoption among businesses whose use cases include the public sector. The telecom company launched a 5G trial in southern Sentosa island last year along with several government agencies.

These initiatives will run on Singtel’s Paragon orchestration platform, which the service provider says has pooled essential resources through 5G and edge computing into “one touchpoint” for easy enterprise deployment and integration.
In April last year, it introduced a “mobile 5G platform“to make 5G network resources available everywhere, with readily available power, on which enterprise customers can deploy and test their applications.
