Before the start of the pandemic, Singapore operated its A380 for the US, but had never flown with the new First Class Suites. So, what’s so special about the new A380 Suites? It is considered one of the best first class seats In the world.
Inside each of the six suites in first class, flyers will find both swivel chairs and beds. If you’re traveling with someone, you can book a Double Suite, which allows you to connect beds in neighboring suites to form a double bed. Yes, a double bed in the sky.

Well, you’re in luck, as there are easy ways to get Singapore Airlines miles through a US credit card number, even if you’ve never flown on Singapore Airlines. That’s because Singapore Airlines is a partner of all the major credit card transfer points. In other words, you can switch Chase the ultimate reward, Rewards for American Express members, Capital One mile and Citi Thank You Rewards to Singapore Airlines.
For example, if you have earned Chase Ultimate Rewards points from a credit card like Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, you can transfer them at a 1-to-1 rate to Singapore Airlines, which means 1,000 Chase points is equivalent to 1,000 Singapore Airlines miles. As you might have guessed, signing up for the Saver award means you’ll be able to lock in lower mileage costs, but you’re not actually claimed on the flight. You’ll know at least two weeks before your expected departure date if your waitlisted reservation has cleared. If you have flexible travel plans, this could be a good choice. However, if you already have specific plans in place, you may not want to risk missing your flight if the waitlist reservation is unclear.
In the example below, you’ll see the prices available on a one-way flight from New York to Frankfurt. At the Economy level, you’ll only pay 86,000 Singapore Airlines miles and $5.60 in taxes. For comparison, this same-day flight currently costs $8,616 if you buy with cash.
If you wanted to go to Singapore from New York, you would have to stop for almost two hours in Frankfurt, but then continue on the same plane to Singapore. Similar to our searches from JFK to Frankfurt, we did not find any availability at the Economy level for JFK to Singapore, but the waitlist option is available for some days.
A one-way flight from New York to Singapore costs 132,000 miles on the Economy level or 237,000 miles on the Convenience level. In terms of taxes and fees, you might only pay $30.40 for this flight. The regular cash price of a one-way flight from NYC to Singapore at Singapore Suites is currently $10,460, representing great value for your points and miles for an experience that might otherwise be unattainable.
If you are looking to redeem miles for business class on the A380, it will cost you 99,000 miles on the Economy level (140,000 miles on the Advantage tier) all the way to Singapore or 72,000 miles on the Economy tier ( 85,000 at Advantage) to Frankfurt. In our searches, we found more awards in business class. So if you can’t find any available dates in your Suites, consider booking a business room for a premium flying experience that’s still great.
