It’s been almost 100 years since the last time Ford Model T rolled off the assembly line. While no one can blink if Ford refused to serve the once popular means of transportation, Classic TFL found a dealer willing to perform an oil change on their 1915 Model T. The hardest part of the whole ordeal, however, was getting to the dealership.
In the video it is mentioned that the local Ford dealership in Brighton, Colorado has 45 minutes drive away in a modern car. Trip in traffic with a T model At least it was an adventure. The first problem is lack of speed. The Model T had a speed of 27 to 33 miles per hour depending on the slope of the road. When they realized the century-old machine would slow dangerously on the highway, they gave in and loaded the vehicle onto a trailer for the rest of the trip.
Oil change The thing itself is pretty simple, involving a multi-point flush since the engine and transmission share the same oil. Modern shop motor oil works well when replaced. The technician noted that his standard for safety in the car was whether he was willing to let his wife go out for a drive. If the problem is serious enough for him to refuse, he will tell the customer about it. When asked about this Model The joked that he would let his wife drive around the block in it.
The whole experience reminded me Porsche advertising where the owner brings in one of the manufacturer’s products 1950s tractors to be served. This is not TFLclassics’ first video featuring this 1915 Model T, and it likely won’t be the last. The channel is hoping to bring up classic cars Pikes Peak this summer.
