See: Russian region suffers record floods
In Russia’s Orenburg region, thousands of people were evacuated as water levels rose more than 9 meters.
The region has been affected by seasonal flooding that is worse than normal due to snowmelt from the Ural Mountains, with the town of Orsk being particularly affected.
The Ural River, Europe’s third longest river, is expected to reach unprecedented levels, peaking on Wednesday.
Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations estimates that more than 10,000 houses are underwater.
