It is repeated endlessly: glaciers and ice sheets are melting, and therefore sea levels are rising. We are all resigned. We will all drown, Hanrahan said.
So every year when the tide is at its highest, I go see how much the sea level rises.
Every year I go to that rock-cut rock shelf hoping to drown.
Alas, at the high tide of 2023 – officially 8:32 a.m. Sunday, January 22 – the waves did not reach the wave break; not anywhere near it.
That notch, must be a relic from the time of higher sea level.
That’s a lot of fun! This morning. Standing on a pedestal under the Boiling Pot observatory in Noosa National Park.
Interestingly, because I was with some friends, the sun was shining and my drone took off. And, of course because it was the morning of the highest astronomical tide. And we were not swept away.
