SDPR landing zone set and more NSW briefings

SDPR platform developed

The “Deployment Zone” for the Single Digital Health Record (SDPR) in New South Wales has been established.

According to eHealth NSW, the landing zone, developed with Epic and Amazon Web Services, is a “secure, scalable platform” for managing and deploying SDPRs. The single EMR project is set to replace nine EMR platforms, six PASs, five pathology LIMSs and other clinical support systems across NSW public health services.

This step ensures that the right infrastructure is “set up to support the high performance and reliability required for Epic Systems EMR,” said Rodney Daly, SDPR deputy project manager.

The project is now focused on configuring SDPR to meet user requirements, as well as migrating and integrating data with other systems and workflows, alongside ongoing testing and validation.

Continue to deploy electronic introduction

Many NSW local health districts are preparing to adopt the state-developed electronic referral management system and digital referral form from HealthLink.

Based on the update, the e-referral technology will soon be rolled out at Sutherland Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital and Royal Women’s Hospital, as well as at Westmead Hospital in Western Sydney. The technology will also be available at Far West LHD.

The state project recently introduced a “referral update” feature that allows hospitals to request additional information from GPs on their initial referrals. Additional specialist forms and text and email notifications regarding referral outcomes have been implemented.

The phased rollout of the electronic referral management system and electronic referral form across NSW began in October last year. Since then, approximately 1,500 NSW GPs have submitted the HealthLink Electronic Referral Smart Form to LHDs.

Strathfield Rehabilitation Hospital introduces discharge module

Alwyn Rehabilitation Hospital in Strathfield has adopted a discharge summary module linked to My Health Record.

This EMR module, provided by Vitro Software, will be integrated by Altura Health into Alwyn’s existing patient management system. FYDO PAS went live at the 26-bed private hospital last month.

In May, Glenelg Community Hospital in South Australia also deployed a similar discharge summary module from Vitro.
