Saturday Afternoon Draft Picks: NFL DFS Squad Advice for Chiefs-Broncos Showdown Week 18 Tournaments
The captains needed a win in Denver to keep their dream of bye-bye first round in the NFL knockouts alive, and the Broncos enjoyed the game’s intro. It’s set to be an action-packed DFS single-game vehicle, so we’re excited to share our DraftKings Week 18 Contest picks. Our roster features Patrick Mahomes, but our “Captain” pick gives us some differences and we have a couple of players who are a perfect fit in GPP tournaments.
Here are the important settings for DraftKings single game competitions: That is Full point PPR, and have three-point bonus for 300 yards of passing, 100 yards rush, and 100 yards receive. The captain costs 1.5 times the player’s original price, but he also gets his total score multiplied by 1.5.

DraftKings: Chiefs vs Broncos Show Choices
Budget $50,000, need at least one player from each team.
Captain: (1.5 times salary, 1.5 times points): RB Darrel Williams, Captain ($14,700)
In the five games that Clyde Edwards-Helaire (as) is absent this season, Williams has scored 17.1 DK points per game and has been heavily involved in passing fouls. With CEH likely to miss another week, this will be another high-volume game for Williams. With this pick, we avoid exhilarating MVP picks like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, and maybe even Javonte Williams, but we get the same advantage. We know Hill and Kelce don’t have “sures” this season, and Williams also serves as third target in the passing game.
FLEX: QB Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs ($4,600)
As Mahomes is finally looking the same as he did before, we can’t with good sense leave him out of our squad despite how excited he will obviously be. After a tough loss in Cincinnati, this captain will want some momentum going into the knockout stages, and it all starts with Mahomes.

FLEX: Chiefs D/ST ($4,600)
Drew Lock throwing a six isn’t out of the question here, is it? It is never wise to “reserve” the defensive score, but at least we can hope for a few games. Lock hasn’t made a single intercept in his two games starting this season, so it looks like he’s due, and Denver’s overall crime rate is low. It’s hard to see this choice coming back to bite us, and the downside is clearly present.
FLEX: WR Byron Pingle, Chiefs ($4,800)
Pringle – along with any other pass catcher not named Hill or Kelce – was clearly never a safe choice, but we saw his flourish in a 25.5-point performance his in Week 16, so we like his explosive record for tournaments. Denver has the ability to take down Hill (as we saw in Week 13), so Pringle could be the frontrunner among the Chiefs’ expansion rounds.

FLEX: WR Jerry Jeudy, Broncos ($5,000)
You can choose to play big or the opposite of another Broncos pass catcher here, but since DK is an all-point PPR we like Jeudy. He has a lot of explosiveness in his own right but can also score points in short or medium receptions. Whether it’s the big games or a ton of volume in junk time, getting him to hit the 100-yard bonus (assuming he’s off the sub/COVID roster) isn’t out of his league .
SATURDAY DFS FULL-SLATE: DraftKings | FanDuel
FLEX: RB Javonte Williams, Broncos ($8,000)
Williams broke out against the Chiefs with 32.8 DK in Week 13, but that was while Melvin Gordon was inactive. We can’t expect the same amount this week, but we can achieve the same effect. With the Broncos officially out of playoffs, we’re hoping they’ll let the rookie beat them up and use Gordon as a breather. After Denver’s onslaught disappointed on one of the best opponents for the RBs last week (Charger), expect the Broncos to try to set up the running game early. If this game falls on empty time, Williams can also do many things in the passing game.
