In a heartfelt tale of ups and downs, March, a Pitbull mix, experienced the joy of being adopted from ACCT Philly, only to face the ultimate disappointment when the adopters changed their minds. Returning to the Philadelphia city shelter, March’s spirits plummeted, causing him to withdraw from the world, his health and mood severely affected by the harsh shelter environment. However, March’s fortunes changed when local news reporter Dawn Timmeney discovered his plight. Determined to make a difference, she featured his story on FacebookAttract potential adopters with a playful invitation:
“…I would be a great running buddy. Imagine all the compliments you would get when people say, ‘Where did you get that handsome dog?’ Bring the family for a meet and greet and who knows… I might be running with you before March turns to April.”
The post quickly gained traction in the community and went viral, leading to a rapid and hopeful development. ACCT Philly soon announced that March was no longer in the shelter but had been adopted by a respected local rescue group that was committed to not euthanizing her. The group remained anonymous but promised to find March a forever home.
Filled with relief and excitement, March embraced her second chance at happiness, eagerly anticipating a future filled with love and joyful adventures. Not only did this event bring joy to March, it also benefited the shelter by freeing up space for another animal in need, continuing the cycle of rescue and hope.
