Ryan Garcia On Gervonta Davis: “I Really Believe I’ll Beat Him”

In an impressive interview with Ariel Helwani on Wednesday, Ryan Garcia weighed in on Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ blocking of Hector Luis Garcia last weekend, calling the match a “regular tank fight.” According to Garcia, Davis “is very selective with his punches. He needs to be in a good position to hit the shots he has power.” Garcia also professes his belief that Davis works to take down his opponents. Garcia told Helwani: “I think he relies on men for burnout. “The guys have no strength, usually when you put pressure on them their punches get loose and they lose focus and that’s exactly what he did and he took him out. there.”
As for Davis’ opponent: “he didn’t adjust to raise his right hand,” Garcia said, “and he was caught with that left hand. It’s obvious what Tank will do, but Tank for me has fought really well. He understood the game and I think he did very well.” Not that Garcia isn’t worried about Davis risking their promised superfight by performing what some believe to be a tune. “I was really worried,” Garcia admitted. “I was nervous because I went through so many rounds trying to make this fight happen to the fans after talking too much… he could hurt his hand, anything could happen. .”
But Garcia also said that he wanted to fight before the new year. “I want to fight in October 2022 to keep the momentum going,” he said. “They (Team Davis) told me, they were very adamant: ‘We’re not going to play you if you’re in that game in December,’” Although Garcia felt it was ironic that Davis had to play in December. 1, he still feels it’s important to do what he has to do to make the fight with Davis a success. “I really believe I will beat him,” Garcia said.
Helwani asked directly if it was true that Garcia would fight Davis on April 15, as reported. “At this point to my knowledge, yes,” Garcia said. “I think they’re just working on the bottom card…I’m ready. I died for this fight and I gave my all to make it happen.” Garcia insisted that he did everything he had to do to make the match against Davis a reality. “I wiped everything,” he said. “The only thing that could happen is something on the Tank side.” With that said, Garcia said he feels Davis will make it through the highly anticipated match. “He knows how important this is,” Garcia said.
