SAN ANTONIO – Ryan Garcia and Emmanuel Tagoe don’t play until Saturday at the Alamodome. But if Wednesday is any indication, we should expect fireworks.
At Wednesday’s open practice, Tagoe was in the ring waiting for Garcia to enter the ring to stare at. Not only face-to-face, the boxers also almost hit.
Garcia looked as if he was going to walk away as he and Tagoe kept looking at each other. Someone is trying to downplay things, but the 23-year-old just can’t do it.
“What you will do?” Garcia shouted at Tagoe. “We can do it now. You won’t do… Look at you, look at you. ”
It was hard to hear what Tagoe was saying to Garcia, who continued the verbal assault.
“Keep talking about it,” Garcia continued. “What are you going to do right now? The game is about to end. I promise you that.”
Many people enter the ring as Garcia and Tagoe try to fight each other. Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed despite the crowds wanting to see a fight. Garcia went to the corner, threw up his right fist and shouted, “Let’s go.”
Earlier in the week, Tagoe told DAZN that he felt Garcia was afraid of him. In Tagoe’s opinion, that’s why Garcia initially didn’t want to fight last January and instead chose to take on Luke Campbell, whom he stopped via seventh inning TKO.
“Ryan knows he was scared of me for a long time,” Tagoe told DAZN. “I don’t know why [Garcia didn’t fight me]. I’m going to fight Ryan Garcia. He doesn’t fight with me. He fights with Luke Campbell. Then he sat down for a year before deciding to fight me.
“I think Ryan has no chance and doesn’t give me anything. I think he’s scared of me. That’s why he chose Luke Campbell.”
