Josh Rubinstein has been selected by the Thoroughbred Owners of California (TOC) as the recipient of the 2021 Ed’s Friendly Industrial Service Award. The award is presented annually in recognition of outstanding industry contributions and service. Purebred racing.
Originally known as the TOC President Award, it was renamed for the legendary TV producer, purebred owner and TOC founding member after his death in 2007. Among the former winners The winners are some of the most prominent names in Southern California motor racing, including Mace Siegel, John Harris, Bob and Beverly Lewis, Jerry and Ann Moss, and Clement Hirsch.
Rubinstein is the president and chief executive officer of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club (DMTC), a position he has held since 2018. He has been with the DMTC for 35 years and has held positions in the media. communications, sales and marketing before being appointed executive vice president in 2013.
He currently serves on the board of directors for the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA), the Thoroughbred Racing Association (TRA), the California Thoroughbred Settlers Foundation (CTHF) and Southern California Off-Track Wagering Inc. (SCOTWINS).
Rubinstein is being honored for his years of service to the California Thoroughbred racing industry and his continuing role in helping Del Mar to build a good partnership with TOC and other California racetracks. This relationship has been invaluable in helping to negotiate challenges of the past few years and future challenges.

Rubinstein will be recognized at the TOC’s Southern California Annual Meeting in Del Mar on August 13.
